Waqas Khan
Waqas was born in Akhterabad. He is a visual artist who expresses himself with multi-layered mediums, including drawings and installations. In traditional scholarship, where both artists and audiences have been internalizing and appreciating only the customary aesthetic aspect of an artwork by viewing it through the limiting lens of existing labels like minimalistic abstraction, miniature, or pointillism, Waqas has been making a conscious effort to move beyond and introduce an academic debate about his experimental approach that should not be compartmentalized. His art expressions are depicted as spatial artistic engagements ranging from large-scale canvases to neon and wire-based installations. His works are part of public collections at The Whitworth, Manchester; Manchester Museum; British Museum, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Manchester Art Gallery; Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Tunis; Kiran Nadar Museum, New Delhi; Devi Art Foundation, New Delhi; The Deutsche Bank Collection, Frankfurt; and The Habib Bank (HBL Art Collection), Karachi.
