Sharjil Kharal
Sharjil Kharal is a senior officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, currently serving in Grade 21 as an Additional Inspector General of Police. He has held multiple key leadership roles within the Sindh Police, including positions as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur plus other strategic assignments focused on Operations, Intelligence, Investigations, and law enforcement modernization. Kharal has a strong academic background, holding an LLB from the University of London, a BS in Business Administration from Pennsylvania US, and an LLM from the University of Nottingham, UK. His scholarly work includes research and writing on human rights, criminal justice, and forensic investigation, and he has authored a handbook on forensic investigation used for police training. Sharjil Kharal has also served internationally in the UN Peace Support Operations in Liberia and Kosovo. He was promoted to BPS 21 in 2025, receiving the rank of Inspector General of Police, an acknowledgment of over two decades of dedicated public service. Known for his focus on modernizing policing systems, Kharal has been especially active in strengthening integrated communication systems, enhancing forensic capacity, and improving operational readiness across Sindh’s police force. He was awarded the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal for his contribution in leading an operation which defended the Pakistan Stock Exchange in 2020 from a terrorist attack.
