Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is a Pakistani politician and businessman who served as the 21st Prime Minister of Pakistan from August 2017 to May 2018. With a background in Engineering, he obtained his degree from the University of California, USA, and pursued a master’s in engineering from George Washington University, USA. With over thirty years of extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, his career includes serving as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defence in the National Assembly of Pakistan (1990-93), Minister of State and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Aviation (1997-99), and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) (1997-99). Notably, he has held various significant positions such as Chief Operating Officer of Airblue (2003-13), Federal Minister for Commerce (2008). As a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources (2013-2017), his contributions have been profound. Additionally, he had been actively involved in various government committees, including the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet, Cabinet Committee on Energy, and Cabinet Committee on Privatization.
