Sara Malkani

Sara Malkani is an advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan with over 10 years of experience practicing law. She has extensive experience in constitutional litigation, family law, criminal litigation, and international human rights law.

Sara actively pursues human rights cases and has an extensive pro bono practice. The Sindh High Court has appointed her as amicus curiae in a number of matters involving implementation of laws for the protection of women and children. Her analysis and commentary have appeared in leading newspapers and periodicals including Dawn and The News, and she has also published in academic journals, including the ’Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender and Society and Contemporary South Asia’. Her forthcoming book is titled, ‘Progressive Laws in Patriarchal Societies: Lessons from Pakistan’.

Sara has a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School at Ann Arbor and a B.A. with high honours from Princeton University, where her thesis was awarded the ‘Class of 1869 Prize in Ethics’.
