Sabir Nazar
An editorial cartoonist for The Friday Times, Express Tribune, and Independent Urdu, Pakistan, Sabir Nazar was a 2014 fellow at National Endowment for Democracy and in 2015, showcased his cartoons at the Association of American Editorial Cartoonist, in San Francisco. He started learning watercolours from his father some fifty years ago and graduated from National College of Arts, Lahore in 1988. His paintings revolve around socio-political commentary through symbols from indigenous history. He has exhibited at several solo and group shows. He has contributed my cartoons for a number of national and international human rights groups such as the HRCP Pakistan, IRC Lahore, UNDP, CWS, Action Aid, AASHA, Oxfam, and UNICEF etc. Sabir won the Editor’s Pick award at the South Asian Cartoonist Conference, Nepal, in 2004. He won a painting award from Punjab Artist Association in 2019 and became the founding member and representative of the Pakistan wing of the International Cartoonist Rights Network. He was elected as Chairperson of the Pakistan Union of Editorial Cartoonists.
