Peerzada Salman
Peerzada Salman is a Karachi-based journalist and the Special Correspondent for Art & Culture at Dawn, Pakistan’s largest English-language newspaper. He has been associated with the publication for the past 22 years. Peerzada Salman is the pen name of Mohammad Salman. From 2009 to 2013, Salman wrote a column on Karachi’s colonial buildings titled Stone Age. In 2015, a selection of these articles was compiled into a coffee table book, Karachi – Legacies of Empires. He published his first collection of English poems, Bemused, in 2017, followed by a book of Urdu poems, Waqt, in 2018. In 2021, a collection of his English short stories, Ephemera, was released as an e-chapbook, followed by his second poetry collection, Nonplussed, and a collection of Urdu short stories, Kirdar, also as e-chapbooks. His English poems have been included in In the New Century – An Anthology of Pakistani Literature in English and Poetry in English from Pakistan – A 21st Century Anthology. In November 2025, his book of fiction — a novella and 13 short stories — titled Fever Log and Other Stories was published. Salman earned his MA in English Literature from the University of Karachi in 1995.
