Nasim Syed is an Urdu poet, short story writer, columnist and translator, who lives in Canada. She has published five books: Aadhi Gawahi (poetry). Samundar Rasta Dega (poetry), Jis Tan Lage (short stories), Shumali America ke Haqiqi Bashindon ke Shaer (translations of the poetry of aboriginal Americans), and Khush Guzranguzar Gae (a commentary on the poetry and prose of Jaun Elia). Aadhi Gawahi was chosen as the best book of the year and received an award from Los Angeles Urdu Markaz. Samunder Rasta Dega also received the best book of the year award from Washington Adbi Markaz. Two forthcoming books are a new poetry collection, and translations of the poetry of aboriginal American women. Ms Syed holds a Master’s in Urdu from Karachi University and a Degree in Hotel Management from Kingston College of Arts and Science, Ontario. She is the Chairperson of the Canadian Urdu Writers Forum.
