Mukhtar Husain
Mukhtar Husain, born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1950, developed his worldview while studying architecture in Türkiye during the 1960s and early 1970s. Upon returning to Karachi in 1973, he served as the Chief Architect of the Karachi Airport Project and later as the Executive Director of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. In 1997, he established his own practice, FNMH Architecture, and contributed to landmark projects for institutions such as AKUH, UBL, and IBA. His latest major project was the design of the campus and buildings of the Turkish Consulate in Karachi. Mukhtar Husain has been a teacher, a professional architect, a critic, and a technical reviewer for major projects. He is also the author of the coffee-table book ‘100+1 Pakistani Architects and Their Own Houses’. Married to Rumana Husain since 1977, he is the father of two children and the grandfather of three. Mukhtar Husain resides in Karachi and remains an active member of the architectural community.
