Muhammad Ahmed Shah was the first elected President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, and has continued to serve in that capacity for the past 11 years. He maintains a rapport with a complex network of trade unions, cultural organizations, human rights activists, lawyers’ associations, journalists and their Unions (including the PFUJ), print and electronic media houses and their CEOs and the owners, and the business community. 

The Arts Council, during Shah’s tenure, has seen an upsurge in its activities, including theatre festivals, music festivals, youth festivals, dance festivals, literary festivals, and activities highlighting socio-political issues and has gained international recognition by collaborating with China, Germany, the US, Portugal, and Japan.
