Mr Mehboob Zafar is a distinguished Urdu poet, writer, researcher, and translator with roots in Talagang, Chakwal District. His father served as a police officer in various Sindh cities. After completing his matriculation in Jacobabad, he moved to Karachi, where he earned his FA and BA degrees, followed by a master’s in Urdu literature.

Mehboob Zafar excels in creation, research, and translation. He has significantly contributed to Urdu literary heritage as a poet and has also made his mark in research and translation. His work has been recognized both nationally and internationally, receiving special acclaim from serious critics. He is proficient in several languages, including Urdu, English, Hindi, Sindhi, Punjabi, Chhachi, and Hindko. He has written poetry in both Urdu and Punjabi and has translated numerous works from these languages into Urdu. His translations from Hindi and Sindhi have been published as separate books.

His notable works include ‘Mere Bhi Hain Kuch Khwab,’ ‘Jadeed Sindhi Afsanon Se Intikhab,’ ‘Jadeed Hindi Adab Se Intikhab,’ ‘Ahmed Faraz: Shakhsiyat Aur Fun,’ ‘Jadeed Urdu Ghazal,’ ‘Jadeed Urdu Nazm,’ ‘Ghazal Asasa Nazm Asasa,’ ‘Naat Asasa,’ ‘Intikhab Kalam Mirza Rafiuddin Sauda,’ and ‘Intikhab Pakistani Adab.’ Four more of his books are in the publication process.

Besides his literary activities, he has played a significant role in promoting literary activities in the twin cities as the driving force behind the renowned literary organization ‘Zawiya.’ He hosted and edited the literary program ‘Afkar’ on Radio Pakistan Islamabad for fifteen years and has hosted numerous poetry recitals and literary programs on PTV and other private channels. As a poet, he has represented Pakistan in many countries. Mehboob Zafar began his professional career with the Pakistan Navy and later served in Pakistani embassies in India and the UK, where his poetic and literary talents further flourished. In recognition of his literary services, he has been awarded the Ghalib Literary Award, Bahadur Shah Zafar Literary Award, and Ahmed Faraz Literary Award.
