Mahmood Shaam is a Pakistani journalist, poet, writer, and analyst. He has a bachelor’s degree in English literature, Persian, and Philosophy from Government College Jhang and a master’s degree in Philosophy from Government College Lahore. As a journalist Shaam has worked for 50 years in various newspapers/magazines, including 16 years in the Jang group. He has written 20 books including poetry books. His several books were banned by the military government of Zia-ul-Haq. He was arrested on 4 August 1977 by Martial Law authorities. He joined Ary Digital Group in 2010 to launch a new Urdu newspaper. His popular works include Akhri Raqs, Chehra Chehra Meri Kahani, Nawishta-e- Dewar, Bhutto Key Akhri Ayyam, and Bartania Mein Khizaan.
