Iqbal Shah
Iqbal Shah, known by his pen name Makham Khattak, is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of talents. As a practicing lawyer in the Karachi High Court, he brings his legal expertise to the forefront.
Beyond his legal career, Makham Khattak is a prolific poet, columnist, blogger, and scriptwriter. He has authored and translated twenty-three books, covering a wide array of topics. His literary journey began with his first book of Pashto poetry, ‘Pa wajood key na zayegam’ (I am not being absorbed in my existence), published in 2005. Subsequently, he delved into literary reportage with ‘Gulgasht’ in 2007, documenting an international Pashto mushaira held at Hazara University, Dhodial Mansehra.
In 2016, Makham Khattak released his second Pashto poetry book, ‘Laka Fasle rebal kigam’ (I am being harvested like a crop). His work extends to scholarly pursuits as well, with ‘Pashto Adab key da inshaia ibtida ao irtiqa’ (Origin and evolution of the light essay in Pashto literature), recommended for MPhil students at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, KP.
