Nasir Abbas Nayyar

Nasir Abbas Nayyar is a scholar, author, and short story writer. He is the Director General of the Urdu Science Board, Lahore. Dr Nayyar’s research interests include modern and postmodern literary theory, linguistics, modern Urdu literature, and postcolonialism. Dr Nayyar has published numerous books, including Mabad Nau Abadiat: Urdu Kay Tanazur Mein (OUP, 2013). Its sequel, Urdu Adab ki Tashkeel e Jadid (OUP, 2016), won the best Urdu Book Prize at the KLF 2017 and Baba-e-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haq Award 2016 for Urdu prose by the Pakistan Academy of Letters. His first collection of short stories, Khaak ki Mehak, also came out in 2016 followed by Farishta Nahi Aya (2017) and Rakh Say Likhi Gai Kitab (2018).
