Christophe Jaffrelot

Dr Christophe Jaffrelot is a French political scientist specializing in South Asia, particularly India and Pakistan. He is Research Director at CERI-SciencesPo/CNRS and President of the French Political Science Association. He teaches South Asian politics and history at King’s College (London). Arguably one of the world’s most respected writers on Indian society and politics, his publications include The Hindu Nationalist Movement and Indian Politics, 1925 to the 1990s; India’s Silent Revolution: The Rise of the Lower Castes in North India; Dr Ambedkar and Untouchability: Analysing and Fighting Caste, and the notable recent volumes The Pakistan Paradox: Instability and Resilience and Modi’s India – Hindu Nationalism and the Rise of Ethnic Democracy.
