Widely regarded as a pioneering figure in the promotion of literary and cultural festivals in Sindh, his multifaceted contributions have shaped the region’s cultural and media landscape. Born on 18 October 1964 in Sanghar District, he completed his early education locally, graduated from Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, and later earned a Master’s degree in Sindhi Literature from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro—an academic training that deeply informed his creative and intellectual development. During his student years, Maheranvi played a leading role in Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Sanghar, where he organized major literary and cultural events, including the Sanghar Cultural Festival and the renowned mushaira Rang Rati Saanjh. His professional association with Radio Pakistan Hyderabad began in the early 1980s, marking the start of a nearly twenty‑five‑year broadcasting career. Known for his refined diction, tonal warmth, and engaging presence, he hosted many popular programs, including Surahi Saanjh, Sugandh, and Subeh‑e‑Mehran. Poetry remains central to his identity. Encouraged by leading poets such as Hassan Dars and Mazhar Laghari, his work attained prominence when Shaikh Ayaz described it as “timeless” in the preface to Deeya Deeya Laat Asaan. His celebrated collection Iltja (2011) and widely quoted poems such as “Asaan Ja Dard Sufi Hin” reflect his emotional depth and modern sensibility. Maheranvi later contributed to Sindhi television, where his program Kaakay Ji Kachehri on Sindh TV became one of the channel’s most beloved cultural shows.
