Baela Raza Jamil, CEO of Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), is the 2024 Asia Education Medalist conferred by T4 Education and the founder of the Pakistan Learning Festival for children and teachers. A former Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Education, she is a passionate advocate for children’s learning, promoting cutting‑edge learning solutions and life skills for girls and the most vulnerable groups. ITA has published children’s literature and promotes interactive and innovative mobile libraries. A leading public policy advocate, Baela is a champion for the right to education (Article 25A), Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), gender equality, climate change action, skills development, and livelihoods. She has worked on the frontlines of emergencies. Through the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) Pakistan, she drives the ‘assessment to action’ foundational learning movement, also known as Teaching at the Right Level, across the country. Valued by many as a force with formidable institutional memory on education systems in Pakistan, she is committed to education as an inclusive public good and a service for all. Baela serves as an advisor and sits on the boards of multiple organizations, representing Pakistan nationally and on global platforms such as the Yidan Prize Foundation, the International Bureau of Education (IBE) UNESCO, the People’s Action for Learning Network (PAL Network), the Learning Generation Initiative (LGI), the Punjab Social Protection Authority, and the Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust (SPNET), a laboratory of quality education for the poorest communities offering IB PYP solutions. She is currently a member of the Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee on Education and a co‑opted member of the Prime Minister’s National Task Force on the National Education Emergency.
