Azhar Abbas

A senior journalist, media man, and current Managing Director of Geo News, Karachi. Azhar Abbas is the author of Army, Democracy and People (1988). He also served as correspondent to NBC and CNBC. In 2001, he joined the core team that launched Geo News and became its first Director News. In 2007, Abbas helped launch Dawn News as Director News & Current Affairs. However, in due course, he returned to Geo News. In recognition for his services to journalism, Abbas was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the second highest civilian award.
