Attiya Dawood is a celebrated Sindhi poet, writer, and activist. She has been hailed as ‘the most important feminist writer in Sindhi’ by Shaikh Ayaz, the renowned Sindhi poet. Through her writings, Dawood highlights the oppression of women in the Pakistani society in the name of tradition. Her poems have been translated into English and Urdu, and German by Annemarie Schimmel. She has published several books, the latest being Sindhi Adab: Aik Mukhtasar Tareekh (OUP, 2019). She is a recipient of the Sindh Adeeb Award from Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli Ain Sahit Sabha, India.
