Astrid Swenson
Astrid Swenson is Professor of History at Bath Spa University in the UK. She writes on the cultural history of Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth century in a global context. Her publications on heritage, memory, art, and museums include The Rise of Heritage in France, Germany and England, 1789-1914 (Cambridge University Press 2013); From Plunder to Preservation: Britain and the Heritage of Empire (edited with Peter Mandler, Oxford University Press, 2013); and Art Looting and Restitution in the 20th Century (a special issue of the Journal of Contemporary History, 2017). She currently works on architecture and imperialism through a study of crusader sites across the Mediterranean.
