Asad Umar

Asad Umar is a Pakistani former business executive and political leader. He earned a B.Com and an MBA from IBA Karachi before beginning his career at HSBC and later joining Exxon/Engro in 1985. Rising swiftly, he became CEO of Engro Polymer in 1997 and President & CEO of Engro Corporation in 2004. He retired in 2012 as one of Pakistan’s highest‑paid CEOs and received the Sitara‑i‑Imtiaz. He entered politics in 2012, serving in the National Assembly (2013–2023) and as Finance Minister and later Planning Minister (2018–2022).
