Dr. Ambareen Hasib Amber, a prominent Urdu poetess, critic, and anchor, chairs the Arts Council’s Literary Committee. With a Doctorate from Karachi University in progressive criticism, she has made significant literary contributions and earned international recognition for her diverse and distinct poetic style. In addition to her long association with the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, Dr. Ambareen has contributed to TV and radio as an anchor, researcher, and scriptwriter. She created the theme song for ‘Meena Bazar’ and hosted ‘Hai Ya Alal Falah’ on PTV for over eight years, along with programs on Geo, Duniya, ARY, TV One, and A Plus. Dr. Amber’s poetry, translated into multiple languages, has earned her global recognition. She represents Pakistan at international forums, conferences, and Mushairas, enhancing its cultural presence. As the first female Nazima, her mushaira hosting skills are acclaimed worldwide. Dr. Amber’s published works, including poetry and critical analyses, have earned awards like the Parveen Shakir Award, UBL Excellence Literary Award, and Anjuman Taraqqi Pasand Musanafeen Award. Her academic contributions include authoring research articles and serving as a judge and chairperson at literary festivals and institutions.

Dr. Amber, affiliated with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law, shares her literary expertise and passion with students. She edits the literary series ‘Asaleeb,’ and her poetry is studied at advanced academic levels. Dr. Amber has received numerous awards, including the Mohen Jo Daro Award and recognition from Karachi University and the Academy of Letters Pakistan. She lectures at various institutions such as DHA College for Girls and Karachi University. She also hosted and was later invited as a guest on the ‘Café Saqafat’ program by the Sindh Culture Department. In recognition of her work in the field of literature (poetry, criticism, writing), she has been bestowed with the Presidential Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan.
