Amar Jaleel
Amar Jaleel is a fiction writer and columnist. He writes in Sindhi, Urdu, and English. His writings are strongly influenced by Sufi philosophy and imagery. He has worked for Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, and thereafter the People’s Open University (now Allama Iqbal Open University), Islamabad, where he went on to become the Vice Chancellor. Life Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Jaleel has 30 books to his credit. He is recipient of President’s Award for Literature, Pride of Performance, Akhal Bharat Sindhi Sahat Sabha National Award from India, Pakistan Writers Guild Award (thrice), Nishan-e-Fazeelat, Alumnus Karachi University, Nishan-e-Sapas from Pakistan Art Council Karachi, Shah Latif Excellence Award for Mystic Literature, K-Electric Pride of Karachi Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Government of Sindh.
