Afzal Ahmed
Afzal Ahmed was born on 27 August 1957 in Lahore. Although he never played cricket himself, the sport has been his lifelong passion and a prism through which he has viewed history, culture, and the world around him. Over the past five decades, Afzal has emerged as one of Pakistan’s foremost private collectors of cricket memorabilia. His meticulously assembled archive includes autographed books, rare brochures, signed programmes, photographs, and a wide range of cherished artefacts that document the evolving story of the game. He contributed material and assisted with research for Wounded Tigers: A History of Cricket in Pakistan by Peter Oborne, and later collaborated on White on Green, a joint project by Richard Heller and Peter Oborne. Now retired after a long career in banking, Afzal lives in Karachi with his family. His book represents both a deeply personal journey and a heartfelt tribute to the rich and enduring legacy of Pakistan cricket.
