Rumana Husain

Rumana Husain is the author of the coffee-table book Karachiwala—a subcontinent within a city. Trained as a graphic designer, she has had an evolving career: from teaching art to making fabric-toys and quilted artwork, innovative school head, teacher-trainer, book illustrator, writer, and journalist. She is the winner of the 4th UBL-Jang Literary Excellence Award (2014) in the Children’s Books category for her graphic story Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan, published by Oxford University Press. She has written and illustrated over 50 children’s books and developed numerous teachers’ manuals for publishers here and abroad. Rumana has presented over 30 programmes on art and architecture for TV One. She is a Director on the Board of the Children’s Literature Festival (CLF), and General Secretary of the Karachi Conference Foundation.
