Zainab Masud
Zainab Masud was born in Hyderabad Deccan in 1941 and migrated to Pakistan with her family in 1950. She received her early education in Lahore at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, later studying at Kinnaird College and Government College Lahore (now a university). At Government College, she became the institution’s first woman editor of the college magazine and received the prestigious Role of Honour, conferred by President Ayub Khan. After completing her Master’s degree in English Literature, Zainab moved to Karachi, where she taught English language and literature at St. Joseph’s College for more than 36 years. She also pursued an MPhil at the University of Edinburgh. Together with her sister Zehra, Zainab translated their mother’s Urdu diaries into English, contributing to the preservation of an important personal and cultural record. She is the mother of two children, both accomplished professionals in their fields.
