Jeff Koehler

Jeff Koehler writes about art, culture, and food, and is the author of ten books. His most recent title, Matisse in Morocco (Pegasus, 2025), was selected by the Wall Street Journal as one of its “12 Books to Read: The Best Reviews of August” and was the Art Newspaper’s June Book Club pick. It has been praised as “a revealing look at an iconic painter” (Kirkus Reviews) and “a masterful study” (The Arts Fuse). His other works include The Spanish Mediterranean Islands Cookbook and The North African Cookbook (Phaidon), the latter a Le Monde and FNAC Christmas recommendation; Where the Wild Coffee Grows (Bloomsbury), a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice; and Darjeeling, winner of the IACP Literary Food Writing Award. His debut, La Paellaremains a perennial bestseller. Koehler’s books have received a James Beard Award, IACP awards, and multiple Gourmand “Best in the World” recognitions.
