Tariq Alexander Qaiser
Tariq Alexander Qaiser is a Karachi‑based architect and the founder of TAQ Architecture & Interior Design (est. 1990), a firm known for its award‑winning work in hospital and school design. A founding member of the Indus Hospital, he has also served as visiting faculty at the Harvard School of Public Health (2009–2017), lecturing on airborne infection control and healthcare design. He has led final‑year studios at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and has spoken widely in Pakistan and internationally. Beyond architecture, Tariq is deeply engaged in environmental advocacy, especially Karachi’s coastal and marine ecologies. Through his EDGE OF DELTA initiative (2019–present), he has championed mangrove conservation, designed public walkways, and produced over 300 short environmental films. His film A Story of Survival was presented at COP27, and Time magazine’s July 2022 Oceans Issue carried an eight‑page feature on his mangrove campaign. Tariq is also a poet, photographer, and artist, with four bilingual books and multiple exhibitions, including participation in Lahore Biennale 03 (2024). He has been a speaker at the Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Pakistan/London Literature Festivals.
