Azhar Abbas

Azhar Abbas is a senior journalist, media professional, and the current Managing Director of Geo News, Karachi. He is the author of Army, Democracy and People (1988) and has also served as a correspondent for NBC and CNBC. In 2001, he joined the core team that launched Geo News, becoming its first Director News. In 2007, he helped launch Dawn News as Director News & Current Affairs before eventually returning to Geo News. In recognition of his services to journalism, he was awarded the Hilal‑e‑Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honour.
