Sherry Rehman

Senator Sherry Rehman is the Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Senate and Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination. She is President of the Pakistan National Group of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), a former Federal Minister for Climate Change, Pakistan’s first woman Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, former Ambassador to the United States, and former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, with additional portfolios in Health, Women Development, and Culture. A fourth-term parliamentarian, diplomat, journalist, and civil society leader, she is the Founding Chair of the Jinnah Institute and Founder of The Centigrade Collaborative. Rehman has received Pakistan’s highest civil honours, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz, and has been globally recognised—ranked among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023, the Financial Times’ 25 Most Influential Women of 2022, and featured in Forbes’ 50 Over 50: Asia 2023. She has been named a Top Global Thinker by Foreign Policy and profiled by Newsweek Pakistan as “Pakistan’s Most Important Woman.” A former editor of the Herald and an award‑winning journalist, she has authored Womansplaining and co‑authored the award-winning Five Hundred Years of the Kashmiri Shawl.
