About 12th Virtual edition of Karachi Literature Festival
Karachi Literature Festival (KLF), the first literature festival held in 2010 in the country, has become an integral part of the social calendar of this city and, indeed, of the country. More than 220,000 people attended the festival over two and a half days in 2020. And many more that number viewed it, or read about it, or heard about it from friends and through the media.
The 12th KLF is scheduled to take place from 26, 27 and 28 March 2021. Uniquely, this year, KLF is to be a Digital Edition of the Karachi Literature Festival and you can join and enjoy the sessions from anywhere in world. Thus, modern technology shields and enables us from the Corona Virus while participating in this Festival and enjoying it. The festival is being organized by Oxford University Press (OUP) with support from several sponsors.
The aims of this Digital Edition of KLF remain the same as previously: to develop interaction between writers, intellectuals, and artists within Pakistan and across borders, cultures, and languages, and to nurture and promote books and the habit of reading. Despite the Virus, this Digital KLF will continue to put Pakistan on the map as a country rich in culture, creativity, and exchange of ideas and opinions. KLF brings together and celebrates Pakistani and international authors. It features debates/discussions, talks, Urdu mushaira (poetry recital), book launches, and readings.
While the roots of KLF are nourished by the rich traditions of our heritage, KLF will look forward to the future and explore new writings, new trends, and new technologies, and provide platforms for younger authors and scholars.
Please join us online for the 12th Karachi Literature Festival, with the full confidence that you will be safe and secure.
